In-Line Height Measurement Technique for Directed Energy Deposition Processes

چکیده

Directed energy deposition (DED) is a family of additive manufacturing technologies. With these processes, metal parts are built layer by layer, introducing dynamics that propagate in time and layer-domains, which implies additional complexity consequently, the resulting part quality hard to predict. Control deposit thickness height critical issue since it impacts on geometrical accuracy, process stability, overall product. Therefore, online feedback control for DED processes with proper sensor strategies required. This work presents novel vision-based triangulation technique through an off-axis located CCD camera synchronized 640 nm wavelength pulsed illumination laser. Image processing machine vision techniques allow in-line measurement right after solidification. The linearity precision proposed setup validated off-and in-process trials laser (LMD) process. Besides, performance developed inspection system has also been tested Arc based compared against experimental weld bead characterization data. In this last case, additionally allowed width contact angles, first runs multilayer buildups.

Layer-to-Layer Height Control for Laser Metal Deposition Processes

Reviewed, accepted September 10, 2008 A Laser Metal Deposition (LMD) height controller design methodology is presented in this paper. The height controller utilizes the Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) algorithm to estimate model parameters between layers using measured temperature and track height profiles. The process model parameters for the next layer are then predicted using Exponentially...

On the Transmission Line Pulse Measurement Technique

Transmission Line Pulse is a short pulse (25ns to 150ns) measurement of the current-voltage (I/V) characteristics of the ESD protection built into an integrated circuit. The short TLP pulses are used to simulate the short ESD pulse threats and integrated circuit must tolerate without being damaged. In this work the fundamental principles of how the TLP pulse is generated and used to create I-V ...

The Sine Method: An Alternative Height Measurement Technique

Height is one of the most important dimensions of trees, but few observers are fully aware of the consequences of the misapplication of conventional height measurement techniques. A new approach, the sine method, can improve height measurement by being less sensitive to the requirements of conventional techniques (similar triangles and the tangent method). We studied the sine method through a c...

Low energy cluster beam deposition technique: Development and deposition of cluster assembled Sb thin films

Antimony cluster thin films have been synthesized by the newly-developed low energy cluster beam deposition technique. Proton-induced X-ray emission analysis shows absence of any foreign impurity even at ppm level. Structural analysis by glancing angle X-ray diffraction indicates presence of rhombohedral Sb along with Sb-oxides. Transmission electron microscopy micrographs for 20 Å and 100 Å fi...
